DESCRIPTION:Linda Nemec Foster will be joined by her friend and colleague Kathleen McGookey as they read from their recent books of prose poems. In celebration of this exciting genre\, they will be joined by host and moderator\, Cecilia Woloch. \nThis program is free and on Zoom\, but registration is required. \nFor more information and to register for the Zoom event\, click the buttons below: \nEvent Information \nRegister Here for Zoom Event \n \n\n*NEW* ZOOM WORKSHOP:\nMagic Tricks and Ghostly Reminders: Approaches to the Prose Poem\nSaturday\, September 30\, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. PST \nRegister/Inquire via email: cecilia.woloch.assistant@gmail.com\nFee: $100 (Reduced fee available if price is a barrier) \nTwo masters of the prose poem form\, Kathleen McGookey and Linda Nemec Foster\, conduct a workshop on its magic and craft. A discussion of strategies and models will be followed by a prompt\, an extended time for writing (off-line)\, then time for participants to share what they’ve written and get spontaneous feedback. She has also published We’ll See\, a book of translations of French poet Georges Godeau’s prose poems. Her work has appeared in many journals\, including CopperNickel\, December\, Epoch\, Field\, Glassworks\, Miramar\, Ploughshares\, Prairie Schooner\, Quiddity\, and The Southern Review\, and was featured on American Life in Poetry. She has received grants from the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Sustainable Arts Foundation. \n \nLinda Nemec Foster has published over ten collections of poetry including Amber Necklace from Gdansk (finalist for the Ohio Book Award in Poetry)\, The Blue Divide\, Talking Diamonds\, and The Lake Michigan Mermaid (2019 Michigan Notable Book) co-authored with Anne-Marie Oomen and artist Meridith Ridl. She has received awards from the Arts Foundation of Michigan\, National Writer’s Voice\, Dyer-Ives Foundation\, The Poetry Center (New Jersey)\, Fish Anthology (Ireland)\, and the Academy of American Poets. A new collection of prose poetry\, Bone Country\, was published in 2023. Foster was the first Poet Laureate of Grand Rapids\, MI. \n\n
